Senior Qaris to Attend Ahl Al-Quran Convention in Egypt

IQNA – Egypt’s Awqaf ministry plans to hold a convention of Quran activists with the participation of senior qaris.

The Noor Mosque in Cairo’s Abbasiyah District will host the event on Tuesday, May 21, according to Akhbar al-Yawm website.

The Egyptian Quran Radio’s qaris, both those serving the radio for years and those recently admitted, will be among the participants.

There will also be Quranic figures in other fields as well as preachers who have successfully completed an educational course on preaching organized by Sheikh Sha'arawi.

Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mukhtar Gomaa said in a speech at the Sayyida Zaynab Mosque in Cairo on Friday that 12 young qaris have been accepted to join the Quran Radio.

The qaris have been admitted after their qualifications were confirmed based on precise standards and criteria of the radio, he said.
